A 9-part audio series of works-in-progress from Texas writers. Laying the foundation for new American theatre.
In an innovative approach to embracing the current challenges presented to live theatre, each playwright of the Rec Room Writers Group has developed a new play over the course of six months. The Sound Scripts Project is an exclusive look into the early development of those 9 new plays by Texas writers. Brought to you on-demand as interactive digital portfolios and podcasts, the Sound Scripts Project includes each play as a rehearsed audio reading, as well as playwright and director interviews.
The audio-plays and interviews of the Sound Scripts Project will be released individually on Thursdays beginning October 22 and ending on February 25. Each play will be available on-demand over the course of a four-day period.

All donations support the staff and artists involved in Rec Room’s continued artistic and educational programming, including the Rec Room Writers Group.

ABOUT REC ROOM WRITERS GROUP
Rec Room Writers is a long-term writers group for Houston playwrights to develop and workshop new plays. The program provides essential support to emerging writers such as space, time, mentorship, and community in order to foster the future of American theatre. Meeting bi-weekly for 8 to 9 months, the playwrights gather at Rec Room, reading and offering critical and supportive responses to each other's work. The group accumulates in a collection of readings for the public.
Writers are selected yearly and after the first year of residency members have continued access to advocacy and resources for the creation of new work in Houston and beyond. Members of the group are invited to special events and receive complimentary tickets to Rec Room productions.
