THE RITE OF SPRING
Music by IGOR STRAVINSKY
Choreographer - LAURA GUTIERREZ
Director - MATT HUNE
The limits of group responsibility are tested in a new dance adaptation set to Stravinsky’s iconic score. Laura Gutierrez, named one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch,” teams up with Rec Room’s Matt Hune to repurpose an unapologetically primitive exploration that examines how modern America assimilates, worships, and sacrifices.

REGIONAL PREMIERE PLAY
A new comedy by one of the country’s finest emerging playwrights and winner of the Windham-Campbell Literature Prize for drama. A year after his assumed death, a young man shows up in his former Chicago apartment alive, well, and ready to fix what went wrong. A miracle reunion turns into a catastrophic disaster as the past catches up with the present and old debts return, expecting payment in full. What does growing up mean and is it even desired in this day and age?
HANSEL AND GRETEL
Composed by - ENGELBERT HUMPERDINCK
Directed by - MATT HUNE
OPERA
This dark take on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tale is set in a stunning wooded installation by artist Mina Gaber. Audiences of all ages will experience a truly immersive experience in Rec Room’s Back Room. This stripped-down English version of Humperdinck’s folk-inspired opera is ideal to become the next Houston holiday tradition.
RESIDENCY FESTIVAL
Rec Room Arts' Resident Artists present world premiere performances in a festival of interdisciplinary works of theatre, dance, music, opera, performance art, film and more. Residents are artists who work to bend and break the rules of conventional performance. Each weekend, a new artist will present a premiere performance developed within the Artist Residency program.
