Rec Room is a unique venue at 100 Jackson St., just steps away from Minute Maid Park in downtown Houston. The space is located in a historic landmark building yet has a contemporary, industrial feel with exposed brick, stained concrete floors and high hardwood ceilings. While we are a fully equipped performance space, we are also available for event and party rentals, classes and workshops, and corporate functions.  Our entire 3,000 sq. ft. venue is available for rental or you can opt to rent individual spaces, described below. Common spaces include a spacious lobby area that comes equipped with a check in desk plus outdoor space for tables and chairs if desired.

Rec Room's biggest space is an 80-seat theatre equipped with a lighting grid and standard plot, PA system, light/sound boards, projector, raised stage and cyc. The stage is 16' deep X 18' wide. Removal of the stage is certainly negotiable if it doesn't fit your needs.

The Big Room has a green room/dressing room area and ample storage space in the back totaling an additional 600 sq. ft. This venue is ideal for live performances of any kind, rehearsals, classes, workshops, and film screenings. The space is also a terrific place to throw the perfect party or celebration (weddings, holiday parties, birthday parties, rehearsal dinners, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs), late-night shows, music shows and regular runs of comedy shows. 

The Big Room is available for daily, weekend, and weekly rentals. Please email us for rates.



Rec Room has a 600 sq. ft. flexible space with concrete floors and attractive exposed brick walls. The space can be used as a music venue, dance floor, rehearsal room, classroom, dining room, meeting area, or flexible performance space. It's a blank canvas. The space is available for daily, weekend, and weekly rentals. Please email us for rates.

We have an intimate front room that serves as a lounge area, bar and meeting space. The space is equipped with a 3-compartment sink, hand sink and large refrigerator unit. The room comes equipped with large tables and benches/seating. Bar staff and services available upon request through. The lounge is available for daily and weekend rentals. Please email us for rates. 


Alcohol: Rec Room Arts will arrange for licensed TABC bar staff and services upon request through an outside vendor. Please email us for specific requests.

Food/Catering: Rec Room does not provide catering or food services. You are responsible for providing food by licensed and insured caterer for your event. You may utilize our 3-compartment sink and refrigerator unit in the bar area. Please note, we do not have a fully equipped kitchen on site. 

Staff: Rec Room does not provide event production staff. However, we are able to do so for an additional fee. You should plan to bring all needed production staff, including planners, caterers, security, cleaning crew, etc.

Furniture: Rec Room can provide picnic tables and chairs for up to 40 seated guests. Outside of that, you must provide your own tables and chairs.

Decor: You must provide your own décor, linens, centerpieces. 

Production: We are equipped with theatrical lighting, PA & sound system, and projector in the theatre space. However, you must bring in your own lighting, sound, and A/V equipment in our smaller spaces. 

Parking: Street parking after 6:00 pm is free. There are paid lots surrounding our building and are open to the public for a fee. Rates vary between lots. Please allow extra time to park during Astros home games. Astros game schedule can be found here.

Smoking: While on the premises, we require that the everyone observe the City of Houston Fire Ordinance, which prohibits smoking in all indoor areas. Smoking is permitted outside, but we ask that you pick up cigarette butts at the end of the event.
