RESIDENCY

ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAM

REC ROOM ARTS' ARTIST RESIDENCY PROVIDES ESTABLISHED ARTISTS, AS WELL AS YOUNG, FRINGE, AND EMERGING ARTISTS OF ALL DISCIPLINES, A PLACE TO DEVELOP AND PERFORM NEW WORK.

OVERVIEW

Delivering on our promise to nurture and support innovative artists both locally and beyond, Rec Room Arts is happy to announce another installment of our Artist Residency program.

Rec Room’s Artist Residency supports innovative artists both locally and beyond in an opportunity for theatre makers to develop new work at a professional theatre. Whether a new musical, a play or puppet show, artists are given the time, space and support needed to develop and refine a new theatrical piece. This residency is built around the artist's needs, but is best for projects that are at a place where actors and audiences will be of service to the project's development. Rec Room’s Artist Residencies are a unique opportunity for an artist centered workshop process. Each residency is deliberately shaped around the requirements and needs of each individual project and artist. Whether a new adaptation of a classical work, a brand new play, or a production a writer is interested in further developing, Rec Room Artist Residency strives to launch exciting work into its next phase of growth.

Due to the corona pandemic and the extraordinary amount of theatrical work that got canceled, Rec Room is expanding the upcoming artist residency. If your show, or project was cancelled and is now no longer being produced by another company or institution, it is eligible for a residency slot. Please see the application below for what it is being offered with this year's residency.
